Arran

Single Malt
A ten year old edition of Arran's Machrie Moor, which introduces a smoky edge to the distillery's excellent single malt. The peaty elements pair wonderfully with the vibrant, fruity, softly grassy whisky, and with ten years of maturation in first fill bourbon casks behind this one, you can expect a fab flavour profile right here. The name, if you're curious, comes from peat bog on the western side of the island.
Baked apples and pears, with singed barley and a touch of peppery oak.
Nutty barley, BBQ charred pineapple, Demerara sugar, cinnamon, drying smoke.
Heather honey, flamed orange peel.

Superb peaty whisky
With an exceptional nose and remarkable smoothness on the palate, this whisky offers exceptional and extraordinary notes of peat, pineapple, spices, and honey, all in perfect equilibrium. Its magnificent balance between peat and sweetness makes it best enjoyed neat.
I spotted this whisky on the shelf at the Queen’s Head on Acton St, London and made a note to pick up a bottle. Islay is my typical style which means peat and smoke. Discovering this was also from Arran and they have a great reputation for whisky I was really looking forward to tasting this one. It’s great smooth whisky with light peat. I’m really pleased with it. I expect these will be the last from Arran (Lochranza) distillery since the sister Lagg distillery opened in the island.

I'm not much for describing fruit or spice flavours but this is a lovely wee dram. No harshness, no bad aftertaste, and a flavour to love! Just about right at 46 abv, a little over budget for me, but worth the extra.
