    Single Malt

    Ardnamurchan AD/

More awesomeness here from Ardnamurchan! You might be wondering what happened with the name on this one, did the folks at Ardnamurchan forget to add all the usual numbers to the end? Perhaps we got distracted mid-sentence by a colourful bird flying past, or a robot vacuum cleaner buzzing around our feet? The answer is simple, this is no mistake! Going forward, Ardnamurchan's AD/ bottlings will no longer have all those confusing digits. The whisky remains unchanged though, following its traditional combination of 50% peated and 50% unpeated malt, matured in a combination of 65% bourbon and 35% sherry casks.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Lemon zest and fresh peels welcome the way with coastal breeze salinity and dense peat.

    Palate

Crisp green apple and pear rest beside creamy wafts of oaken vanilla and roasted barley. Herbaceous notes of seaweed and vegetal peat bring a dry, smoky edge.

    Finish

Plenty of citrus on the finish, with more zesty lemon and candied orange. The harbourside peat notes continue, softened by earthen vanilla, and buttery toasted oak.

    Superb

You’d be forgiven for thinking this was a skilled blend, with a premium asking price to match. This is superb - a taste tour around your old favourites - salty peaty coastal memories, the fruity depth of the best of the Highlands, and the citrus sharpness kicking in at the end of the finish, just to see if you’re still paying attention. This one deserves your full attention.

    Superb dram

After some hunting around I have found one I like to replace my former love of Talisker 18, now made an unaffordable rip off by Diageo greed. The Ardnamurchan is superb too, with a hint of peat. There is nothing quite like this Ardnamurchan I have had. It has the fruitiness of an Irish Red Breast, but there is a hint of toffee and smoke that makes it quite unique. It is remarkably smooth, and it’s not at all expensive given the quality on offer. A bargain! Bravo!

    Well done!

Color: light gold. Nose: barley and citrus. Palate: malty with a touch of peat. Good mouth feel. Finish: good length
