    The Ardmore Legacy

Released in 2014 to take the place of the Ardmore Traditional, the Legacy brings a lightly-peated, wood spice-led flavour profile to the table. At its core, the Ardmore Legacy is made with 80% peated and 20% unpeated malt.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

It leans more on the savoury than the sweet side of things, with light barbecue char and earthy notes up-front. Sweet cinnamon, fresh honey and vanilla toffee waft up at points.

    Palate

More charred, smoky notes, joined by drying oak, pear drops and subtle grassy touches. Give it a minute for citrus zest and expressive heather to appear.

    Finish

A lasting peat smoke finish, with a little bit of honey'd barley for good measure.

Very light, a little smokey but still smooth and sweet.

Very gentle. Lots of comments about being too smokey and harsh, but I think if this is what you think. you bought the wrong whisky to start with. I like really smokey so this is a very gentle smokiness and as for harsh, I thought actually quite sweet and smooth. Compared to some whisky just a little more expensive, this has less complexity and length but I still found very enjoyable. Tasting notes tend to talk about ‘light’ or the softer or sweeter tastes such as vanilla, honey and grass and i guess that would lean towards subtlety and simplicity so not a lot of obvious layers here. For those being critical I suggest it does exactly what is says on the tin. If you don’t like any smoke, stay away.

    Smoky

This scotch opens with a note of smokiness, then... wait a second... still smoky, J-Jesus it's so smoky! Is this just liquid smoke? Please help I have asthma, I cant breathe! Where's my inhaler? (Sharp inhale) Ok... ok... I'm good. Yup, I got what I paid for. Don't buy cheap when it comes to scotch.

    Revolting

Poured down the drain, revolving, worst whiskey I have ever tasted, like a mixture of turpentine and peat. Never want to taste again.

    Easily pleased me

Quite agressive smoke up front maybe from young whisky but mixes with the following spice, heather and honey. Perhaps for the price you could do better but would recommend if on offer
