Released in 2014 to take the place of the Ardmore Traditional, the Legacy brings a lightly-peated, wood spice-led flavour profile to the table. At its core, the Ardmore Legacy is made with 80% peated and 20% unpeated malt.
It leans more on the savoury than the sweet side of things, with light barbecue char and earthy notes up-front. Sweet cinnamon, fresh honey and vanilla toffee waft up at points.
More charred, smoky notes, joined by drying oak, pear drops and subtle grassy touches. Give it a minute for citrus zest and expressive heather to appear.
A lasting peat smoke finish, with a little bit of honey'd barley for good measure.

enjoyed it, doesn't get stuck in your throat, smooth, drinkable and surprisedly good value for the price you pay compared to other over rated 'wannabes'.
Such a disappointing drink. Normally I drink Speyside malts but I received this for Christmas, when I opened the bottle and poured I was initially impressed with the pale colour and apparent smoothness of the drink. Then I tasted it and thought it was similar in taste to what I would expect a bottle of perfume mixed with disinfectant would taste like. My sink didn't seem to have any problems in downing the last of the drink
Great price and value. Ardmore Legacy reminds me of a very slightly watered Ledaig 10. That is to say its fantastic, and for the price you are paying it may be the best peated scotch under or around 40 bucks. It is definitely something to keep stocked when you need to go to the "cheaper" stuff. Grant it, a cheap date may go for stuff like J & B or god forbid Grant's but in the modest price range of 30 to 40 bucks I dont think it can be beat if youre a fan of peat yet dont want to be overwhelmed.
A lover of Laphroaig, I decided to try this via a Christmas offer. The Ardmore is far more subtle in its approach, with far more directions of taste than Laphroaig. Although I will not be abandoning Laphroaig just yet, Ardmore will be very prominent in my drinks cupboard for the foreseeable future. Laphroaig may well go eventually, assuming Ardmore doesn't get silly with the price.
Taste like choline chemical wash.
