Released in 2014 to take the place of the Ardmore Traditional, the Legacy brings a lightly-peated, wood spice-led flavour profile to the table. At its core, the Ardmore Legacy is made with 80% peated and 20% unpeated malt.
It leans more on the savoury than the sweet side of things, with light barbecue char and earthy notes up-front. Sweet cinnamon, fresh honey and vanilla toffee waft up at points.
More charred, smoky notes, joined by drying oak, pear drops and subtle grassy touches. Give it a minute for citrus zest and expressive heather to appear.
A lasting peat smoke finish, with a little bit of honey'd barley for good measure.

This whisky comes over as s little more than lightly peated. Not a heavily peated whisky, that's for sure but more than a lightly peated one. I am however, shocked at some of the negative reviews, this whisky is without doubt an easy drinking single malt scotch that ticks all the right boxes. I picked my bottle up for £20.00. Discounted from around £31.00 in my local Tesco's and am well impressed.
When I first tasted this I was very confused because I didn't realize this version was to replace Ardmore Tradition. Having gotten used to and loving the strong smoke and peat of the traditional version, I found this to be quite disappointing. It's OK but it just doesn't have the same wonderful complexity. I'll have to start stockpiling the old version while you can still get it.
Smoky peaty excellence. Lovely dram and good value too.
I have to say I thought this one of the best value single malts I've tried in some time. Currently on offer in ASDA at £20 a bottle (!!), were you to blind taste it you'd assume a far higher price. Ignore some of the ignorant reviews below, this is a (lightly) peated whisky, and tastes it. Anyone who believes in adding ice to a single malt to improve its flavour is drinking the wrong drink and living in the wrong country.
This is a bloody lovely whisky. Nicely peated and so easy to drink. Vanilla flavours sit on your tongue, and it's so very smooth. This is the whisky which made me really like whisky.
