The first single grain whisky in the Clydebuilt series, Clydebuilt Riveter encompasses a collection of fifteen casks sourced from a Lowland distillery, each one matured in bourbon barrels and selected by Ardgowan's master whisky maker, Max McFarlane.
Opens on dark fruit compote before moving into furniture polish, lemon curd, figs, leather, and old books.
Dry and moreish, with butterscotch, five spice, mint choc chip, and brown sugar.
Lingering, lovely, and very smooth, dries down slowly.
I was gifted a bottle of this by a family friend who knew of my liking for bourbon as opposed to Scottish whiskey. I did wonder if they’d given it to the wrong person until I opened it and the wonderful aroma of caramel & bourbon wafted through my senses. This has a fabulous taste and is smooth and easy to drink, even my wife commented on the aroma. I’ve finished the bottle I was gifted and am about to order a replacement. I love this.
A fantastic whisky. I first tried this at the Scottish whisky festival and was really impressed by all 3 Clydebuilt whisky. I bought my own bottle and was better than I remembered.
This is a top-class Single Grain.
There's a lot to like about this one. I read on Dramface the nose "Opens on dark fruit compote before moving into furniture polish, lemon curd, figs, leather and old books." I agree in the main but think it's more aromatic wood (oak of course) rather than furniture polish. Taste wise, the arrival is strong aromatic oak which quickly fades into a creamy, butterscotch and Demerara sugar. The finish is short to medium but leaves you with that gentle warm sweet creaminess. Heartily recommended
