    Ardbeg Uigeadail

This stunning expression from Islay's Ardbeg distillery on the Kildalton Coast is named after a nearby loch (pronounced "Oog-a-dal"). It's the perfect example of how sweet and savoury notes can work together spectacularly - you'll find Ardbeg's maritime salinity intact here, combined with dried fruit notes imparted by time spent in sherry casks. Kind of like when you mix sweet popcorn and salty popcorn together, it results in something absolutely wonderful.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Multifaceted, notes of peat and little flourishes of dark sugar, freshly ground espresso beans, cereal notes and a most sophisticated tar.

    Palate

Led by sweet, ripe fruit and black forest honey. A good helping of malt. The throne then usurped by a powerful peat and smoked barley.

    Finish

Very long, caramel and malt weave their way through peat smoke and dark sugar and just a hint of fresh espresso coffee before it finally peters out.

    Overall

Such deft balance! How wonderful to sample Ardbeg so beautifully complimented by sherry.

    My favourite Islay

I have been working my way through the Islay whiskies, and had been building up to two that seemed often cited as the best examples of Islay (for under £100), this and Lagavulin 16. I finally treated myself to a bottle of each at the same time, and while I loved them both, this won for me. Maybe the Lagavulin 16 was too built up in my head and I was slightly underwhelmed, but I was really blown away by the Uigeadail. I love the Ardbeg 10 too, but this is a different level for me.

    Best Islay Malt

Complex, smooth and surprisingly easy drinking for the alcohol content, this is the best Island single malt in my opinion. Just bought my second bottle ?

A great experience for the peaty ones !

I am a fan of Laphroaig 10 for 3 decades. Tried many other alternatives too and liked Lagavulin 16 and Ardbeg 10 too. But for my kind of taste this one suits the most.

    Needs a Boost!

I really like most of the Ardbeg offerings but I find that this one as well as one other really nees 'extra' flavour to help it along. It may not be 'everyone's cup of tea' so to speak but it is my honest opinion that this dram is greatly improved by just a splash of Irn Bru to help it along.

    Yummy

Jam packed full of flavour. Obviously this is not for everyone, but if you want something complex in this style with some kick this is a good option. Easy to drink at this alcohol percentage too. As a bonus my order (along with a few other bottles yet to be tasted) came two days early, so thanks to the team at MoM. ?
