This stunning expression from Islay's Ardbeg distillery on the Kildalton Coast is named after a nearby loch (pronounced "Oog-a-dal"). It's the perfect example of how sweet and savoury notes can work together spectacularly - you'll find Ardbeg's maritime salinity intact here, combined with dried fruit notes imparted by time spent in sherry casks. Kind of like when you mix sweet popcorn and salty popcorn together, it results in something absolutely wonderful.
Multifaceted, notes of peat and little flourishes of dark sugar, freshly ground espresso beans, cereal notes and a most sophisticated tar.
Led by sweet, ripe fruit and black forest honey. A good helping of malt. The throne then usurped by a powerful peat and smoked barley.
Very long, caramel and malt weave their way through peat smoke and dark sugar and just a hint of fresh espresso coffee before it finally peters out.
Such deft balance! How wonderful to sample Ardbeg so beautifully complimented by sherry.

My all time favorite Islay malt. The flavor is amazing. As with all of the peaty, smoky and fruity expressions, the complex flavor of Uigeadail allows it to stand above my other favorites from this region. I’m not saying that Talisker 57 North and Lagavulin 16 are not also on my “Must Brag about list”, I’m just in love with the heavily balanced ocean flavors, followed by a visit to the berry patch as the warmth washes over my palette.
Not sure if this bottle is the real thing as it tastes like petrol. Would appreciate a professional opinion which I will endeavour to obtain in the near future
My favorite Ardbeg. Haven’t sprung for a high-year bottle yet but really like this. Sweeter and more mellow than the 10 but no push-over. Beginners should be ready for smoke but a little concentration allows one to dive into sweet and savory layers. Wonderful!
Fabulous stuff. Can't quite bring myself to say it tops Lagavulin 16 but it sure is close. I'll definitely be enjoying Ugi a few more times in the future. Well worth the price.
This is a NAS 54.2% non chill-filtered south coast Islay malt. Perhaps disappointingly, it does not mention 'natural colour' on the label, so presumably there is some artificial colouring? It's archetypal Islay - powerful, smoky, dry and meaty - did I mention smoky? There are obviously some youngish whiskies in here because the finish is fiery and alcoholic. I feel that it could be a tad more rounded if the dryness was balanced with a bit more sweetness, as it is in the 10yo but saying this, Uigeadail is a must for all Islay lovers and, as evinced by my rating, I love it despite its minor flaws.
