This stunning expression from Islay's Ardbeg distillery on the Kildalton Coast is named after a nearby loch (pronounced "Oog-a-dal"). It's the perfect example of how sweet and savoury notes can work together spectacularly - you'll find Ardbeg's maritime salinity intact here, combined with dried fruit notes imparted by time spent in sherry casks. Kind of like when you mix sweet popcorn and salty popcorn together, it results in something absolutely wonderful.
Multifaceted, notes of peat and little flourishes of dark sugar, freshly ground espresso beans, cereal notes and a most sophisticated tar.
Led by sweet, ripe fruit and black forest honey. A good helping of malt. The throne then usurped by a powerful peat and smoked barley.
Very long, caramel and malt weave their way through peat smoke and dark sugar and just a hint of fresh espresso coffee before it finally peters out.
Such deft balance! How wonderful to sample Ardbeg so beautifully complimented by sherry.

I've try to get used to this interesting whisky, but after first bottle is now empty, I have mixed feelings of it. It is like a good with some strong spice, which will divide the people. That flavor has a huge fanbase of Ardbeg fans, and I agree that it it truely unique. To me the flavor is too dominant, like having too much of cloves or cumin in food. I like more balanced ones - Laproagh and Bowmore, even the aftertaste is a much longer and maybe better in Ardbeg. So I will keep trying out the Ardbeg more, but for the price there is not same value as Laproagh or Bowmore, in my humble opinion.
So I bought a bottle of this a month ago and specifically the "Uigeadail" Ardbeg for my ski holiday and this has to be probably the best whisky I have ever tasted!!! I absolutely love Ardbeg and their whiskies. I visited the distillery last year which is really nice! So on the aroma it's got like carmel, toffee, creamy notes and it's a really deep rusty brown colour to look at and it's also cask strength, I think 54% abv but it's very refinered and well put together that you don't even realise it's this strong. The taste is beautiful on the palate with a peaty, muscavdo sugar. It's quiet a long finish and really coats the mouth. Beautiful. It is a little bit more expensive than some but it's worth it! The quality shines through!
I've just watched the video and it reminded me what i'm missing as i dont have a bottle of oogy in atm. - it's everything he said and more lol. next time i place a MoM order i'll have to get another
Must be the best malt especially when we are subject to the corona virus problem makes life worth living
I'm a fan of all things Smokey and peaty, and this one is the best I've tasted. The long luscious finish is what really sets this apart.
