This stunning expression from Islay's Ardbeg distillery on the Kildalton Coast is named after a nearby loch (pronounced "Oog-a-dal"). It's the perfect example of how sweet and savoury notes can work together spectacularly - you'll find Ardbeg's maritime salinity intact here, combined with dried fruit notes imparted by time spent in sherry casks. Kind of like when you mix sweet popcorn and salty popcorn together, it results in something absolutely wonderful.
Multifaceted, notes of peat and little flourishes of dark sugar, freshly ground espresso beans, cereal notes and a most sophisticated tar.
Led by sweet, ripe fruit and black forest honey. A good helping of malt. The throne then usurped by a powerful peat and smoked barley.
Very long, caramel and malt weave their way through peat smoke and dark sugar and just a hint of fresh espresso coffee before it finally peters out.
Such deft balance! How wonderful to sample Ardbeg so beautifully complimented by sherry.

Go get a bottle. Best scotch ever. You will not regret it.
J'ai entendu parler d'Uigeadail quand j'ai écoté la chanson du groupe Ecossais Clann An Drumma. Je vais me renseigner où en Belgique on vend cette marque d'alcool et le déguster par la suite
Bought this as the same time as Laphroaig's latest 007 10yo cask strength and one night took some time to compare them - and very jolly I was afterwards, too. At the time, I tended to favour the Laphroaig. However, last evening I stayed with the Ardbeg in a globular wine glass. What was amazing was when the glass was nearly empty, there was the incredible combination of creosote, smoked oily fish, tobacco and coal tar soap, which sounds awful but was quite delicious. I feel another night of comparison beckoning!
On a scale of 1 to 10... Truly fantastic stuff, you get a Lagavulin level of quality and sophistication with that signature Ardbeg peat and sweet - this is the best single malt available imo.
Loved this dram. Still relatively new to drinking scotch. However I did have the Laphroaig QC..I found the medicinal taste overpowering the rest of the flavor, and could not enjoy it. The Ardbeg though was delicious. A burst of smokey peat, with a very nice long finish.
