This stunning expression from Islay's Ardbeg distillery on the Kildalton Coast is named after a nearby loch (pronounced "Oog-a-dal"). It's the perfect example of how sweet and savoury notes can work together spectacularly - you'll find Ardbeg's maritime salinity intact here, combined with dried fruit notes imparted by time spent in sherry casks. Kind of like when you mix sweet popcorn and salty popcorn together, it results in something absolutely wonderful.
Multifaceted, notes of peat and little flourishes of dark sugar, freshly ground espresso beans, cereal notes and a most sophisticated tar.
Led by sweet, ripe fruit and black forest honey. A good helping of malt. The throne then usurped by a powerful peat and smoked barley.
Very long, caramel and malt weave their way through peat smoke and dark sugar and just a hint of fresh espresso coffee before it finally peters out.
Such deft balance! How wonderful to sample Ardbeg so beautifully complimented by sherry.

Samma rökighet som 10'an men betydligt fler smakar. Man känner att den har en hög alkoholhalt i de starka smakerna men inte på spritigheten, precis som det ska vara! Någorlunda prisvärd och den jag recenserar buteljerades 2014-11-05
Glad I'm not alone. Was doubting myself and wondering if my tastes have changed. Uigeadail used to taste perfect to me but my two more recent bottles were only great, not perfect. In the meantime, I have yet to taste any (affordable) whiskies that are better than my first few bottles of Uigeadail.
I was lucky to get a first bottling of this. It was sublime. Nice and creamy, oily and delicious. It has faltered, and a lot. Some of the first bottling is there, but it's just failing to deliver. Shame. Now its full of smoke and the sherry influence is just slightly in the background. I'm seriously pondering if there was flavors added.
This used to be amazing but the quality has slipped noticeably. Comparing a 2016 bottle to a mate's 6 or so year old one was telling. It tastes far younger and the sherry influence isn't as noticeable.
My first sip was followed with Holy S#@tballsthis is freaking delicious!!!! Wow! Smooth, warm, soft, perfect amount of sweet and peat. First taste was fresh and bright with vanilla and toffee then followed by warm peatiness then some sharp but subtle heat. Was like sipping warm liquid gold. My favorite to enjoy so far. Newbie who started with Lagavulin and Balvenie and now Ardbeg Uigeadail lol. Highly recommended this drop of gorgeousness.
