    Ardbeg Perpetuum

In 1815, the Ardbeg distillery was founded by John McDougall on the Isle of Islay. In 2015, Ardbeg Perpetuum was released during Fèis Ìle 2015 in celebration of their 200th anniversary. Dr. Bill Lumsden has created a full-bodied Islay single malt, rich in coastal peat, smoked meat and well-rounded vanilla notes, using a blend of whiskies both young and old, matured in both bourbon and Sherry casks. Here’s to the first 200 years - and to the next 200 years too!

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

    Over-Priced Again!

It's me again. I'm sipping some at this moment. The nose (aroma) of this whiskey is hideous! Smells like acetone with a sweetener in it. Thank Goodness the taste is nothing like the smell! The finish is not too bad either. Some smoke, which is what I like, and some vanilla and other sweetness. I would give it a higher rating if it were in the $50-$60 price range. Cheers!

    Re: Over- Priced

I meant Laphroaig, not Laphroaid. I've had a few.

    Over-Priced

Ardbeg makes some fine whiskey, Uigeadail being the best in my opinion. However, they are all over-priced, especially compared to the Laphroaid line of whiskeys which, to me, are just as good. I bought 2 bottles of this stuff at $89.99 each , which is supposed to be a bargain, and feel totally let down. Never again will I buy anything from Ardbeg except the 10 YO and Uigeadail. Good but, WAY over-priced.

    Options

This is a different expression from Ardbeg. Maybe they seek broader markets? Tasty enough, still peat forward, but the nose is more botanical. Puts it in an awkward spot. If you seek botanicals then you might prefer a rye. But if seeking salty+smoke you might prefer a different Ardbeg.

    Was expecting more from a «special edition»

Ardbeg Uigeadail is my #1 scotch. I had big expectation for this one. Not as good as Uigeadail but still very interesting. Worth trying.
