Powerfully peaty and immensely satisfying, Ardbeg's Corryvreckan is what happens when the distillery of Islay's Kildalton Coast aims to make a whisky with a particularly medicinal style than its usual expressions. Aptly named after a nearby whirlpool, Corryvreckan is an intense dram that we simply love.
Sticking plasters, buttery, creamy, roast chicken crisps, herbal, almost a hint of pine…
Cream, spices, tingling, fresh fruit, medicinal, plasters, Clementines. Orange peels.
Salty, more medicinal, smoked meats, peat is fleeting, tarmac, chilli, salt.
Astonishing.

After reading all the reviews and hearing so much about Islay and particularly Ardbeg whisky we decided to spend a week there in June '14. What an absolute disappointment. We found the locals very unfriendly, the Island absolutely boring and the whisky quite dreadful. From now on we will happily stay at our favourite place Filey and stick to our favourite drink a pint of glorious Yorkshire Bitter.
Great scotch, but this price is ridiculous. What a shame they rip you off so blatantly. Shame on you masters of Gouge.
Oh my thank god i still have a bottle of this tucked away at home. Had this for the first time in Edinburgh and only the Uigeadail is better than all the ardbegs i have tried. If you see it get it
New-ish scotch drinker, made it through most of the popular Glen-whatevers and macallans. For the Islays, I first tried the L's: Laphroaig 18 and QC, and Lagavulin 16 and DE, and ranked them as [Lap 18, Lap QC, Lag DE, Lag 16] for me personally, with both Laps being the best scotches I've ever had. But the two Laps were so close that the QC was definitely the better value. So I tried the Corry and Oogy the following week. Oogy goes somewhere in the middle, a little too sweet like a combo of Macallan and an Islay, but the Corry just blew away the entire field. Best scotch I've ever had. Similar to the Laps in peatiness, similar to the Oogy in complexity, but without being too sweet--it feels like its own flavor rather than a combo of two others. Perfect.
i would like to see, and most of all smell and taste the better one. at more or less the same price if possible. any suggestions? and dont say uigeadail :P this was my ALLMOST first bottle of good whisky and is still the best aftertaste after a minute or ten. i mean really..
