    Ardbeg Corryvreckan

Powerfully peaty and immensely satisfying, Ardbeg's Corryvreckan is what happens when the distillery of Islay's Kildalton Coast aims to make a whisky with a particularly medicinal style than its usual expressions. Aptly named after a nearby whirlpool, Corryvreckan is an intense dram that we simply love.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Sticking plasters, buttery, creamy, roast chicken crisps, herbal, almost a hint of pine…

    Palate

Cream, spices, tingling, fresh fruit, medicinal, plasters, Clementines. Orange peels.

    Finish

Salty, more medicinal, smoked meats, peat is fleeting, tarmac, chilli, salt.

    Overall

    Astonishing.

    Unbelievable

Ardbeg is such an amazing whiskey then I tried this Corryvreckan for those who like peaty whisky's you will love this, every time I take a sip the flavours intensify I get something different each time this is certainly a must buy for all Ardbeg fans in fact for all whisky fans.

    A maelstrom of flavor

Well as you know from my reviews I am definitely a peat head and very much a fan of Ardbeg but was always hesitant to buy this because of mixed reviews(and how rare and expensive it is here) but now that I have it I couldn't be happier with it this is just as good (if not better) than Uigeadail. Smells like an old steam boat sailing across rough seas but the flavor is off the charts, Initailly briny/ peppery roasted orange peels followed by peaches, pine needles, chocolate, tar, charcoal and finished with burnt driftwood, band aids, and rich, peaty seaweed . As I keep drinking it even more flavors develop you could really get lost in this whisky it's crazy ,much more bold than the refined Uigeadail this is a whisky that you can honestly get lost in what a fantastic dram absolutely love this stuff glad I got a good bottle. Love it. (man of few words)

    Exceptional

Suits my palate to a 'T'. I was almost put off by the ABV...but I've found that if I get just the right amount of water to 'open it up', it brings out all the right flavors at the right time and matches some of the 30+ year old malts I've sampled over the years.
