Ultimate Ardbeg
Over the years (too more than I care to recall), I've tried most of the Ardbegs, including the Committee bottlings. The '77 had it for a while; the '78 was even actually better (although Jim seems to disagree). Oogy hit the spot big time, the Alligator snapped at Oogy's heels, but for me, Sassenach though I am, Corryvreckan is the one. Quite simply stated, this is as good as whisky gets. I liked the Beastie, Supernova was stellar. the regular 10 YO is my 10/10 everyday dram, but the Corryvreckan... Do yerself a favour and buy every bottle you can. This is whisky Nirvana!

Fantastic, but not quite the Beastie
Having the 10yo, Beastie, Corryvreckan, Uigeadail, Galileo, and Supernova on my shelf does make me one happy man. The Corryvreckan is fantastic, but it's not quite got the finish of the Beastie and will always suffer as it's been brought in as a replacement. It still gets 9 out of 10 though in my books!
"A true taste of Islay"... Bruichladdich have some astounding whiskies, but Ardbeg and Bruichladdich are totally different, I wouldn't say one is doing it right and one is doing it wrong. The world of whisky would be very boring if all distilleries did it the same.

It took a while to open up
My first smell and taste of this, unadulterated, almost knocked me out. the only things i could smell at first was alcohol. The first taste was the same... it just straight up burned my mouth out. But, I added a touch of water, watched that settle in for a minute, and within a minute, it started becoming much more rich - not just in peat but in woody and salty smells. The taste evened out, and after about 10 minutes it was glorious.
As a drinking scotch, I don't know that I'd want to wait 10 minutes after pouring myself a drink before I can touch it (the required 3 for a Guinness is painful enough!), but the wait is definitely worth it.

SMOKY PEAT BOMB
A delicious whisky,far superior to the 10 yr old we tasted at the Ayr whisky festival.this whisky was my favourite very smoky heavily peated but deliciously smooth,I strongly recommend this whisky absolutely beautiful

Ardbeg,the name spells magic!!! I have tried the 10 Y.O and also other islay malts...but ardbeg corryvreckan is truly not for the faint hearted.A complex scotch with various moods involved.Its the most evocative expression of modern day malts...cheers!!
