    Ardbeg 10 Year Old

A phenomenal whisky packing powerful peaty deliciousness, Ardbeg 10 Year Old is a favourite of many whisky lovers around the world. Produced on the Kildalton Coast of Islay, this single malt matures for a decade before being bottled without any chill-filtration. If you're after a whisky full of coastal air, smoke and more, this is exactly what you want.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

A ridge of vanilla leads to mountain of peat capped with citrus fruits and circled by clouds of sea spray.

    Palate

Sweet vanilla counterbalanced with lemon and lime followed by that surging Ardbeg smoke that we all know and love.

    Finish

Long and glorious; sea salted caramel and beach bonfire smoke.

    Overall

Precise balance, big smoke and non-chill filtered. This is why this is such a famous dram.

    Ardbeg TEN

Awful. Smells like TCP. Doesn't taste much better. A massive disappointment. Oh well, onwards and upwards.

    Exceptional

I was gifted a bottle of this for Christmas. I fell in love from the moment I opened it. I always wondered what people meant when they say 'its well balanced' well now I know. I'm not great at describing flavours but it's a BIG peaty dram (which I love, the peatier the better) with a lovely soft natural Sweetness , and a touch of citrus that just flows down too easy. Perfectly balanced. 500 characters aren't enough to describe this whisky. Just buy it and you'll see.

    My favourite scotch

I have drunk far more Ardbeg 10 than any other scotch. I love all of their range that I have been able to try, but this the staple and the foundation. It seems that many people have a whisky journey where they start with non-smoky brands, before eventually catching the peat bug. From that point it seems most people inevitably drift towards either Ardbeg, Laphroaig or Lagavulin as their favourite. There is no wrong answer as it is all subjective, but I never really "got" Laga compared to the other two. The line between Ardbeg and Laphroaig is much finer, but there is something unique about Ardbeg that just outshines Laphroaig for me.

    A Helping Hand

I really like most of the Ardbeg offerings but I find that this one as well as one other really needs 'extra' flavour to help it along. It may not be 'everyone's cup of tea' so to speak but it is my honest opinion that this dram is greatly improved by just a splash of Irn Bru to help it along.

Ok for trying for first time

Maybe I got a below average bottle, but after waiting to try this was disappointed, very bland and not anything great about it.
