    Ardbeg 10 Year Old

A phenomenal whisky packing powerful peaty deliciousness, Ardbeg 10 Year Old is a favourite of many whisky lovers around the world. Produced on the Kildalton Coast of Islay, this single malt matures for a decade before being bottled without any chill-filtration. If you're after a whisky full of coastal air, smoke and more, this is exactly what you want.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

A ridge of vanilla leads to mountain of peat capped with citrus fruits and circled by clouds of sea spray.

    Palate

Sweet vanilla counterbalanced with lemon and lime followed by that surging Ardbeg smoke that we all know and love.

    Finish

Long and glorious; sea salted caramel and beach bonfire smoke.

    Overall

Precise balance, big smoke and non-chill filtered. This is why this is such a famous dram.

the most elegant and feminine of the Islays

more feminine and elegant than Laphroaig or Lagavulin... I like it but I find myself craving the more brawny bodacious nature of the other two. particularly Laphroaig's thick wall of smoke. I am definitely a smoke-fiend and the more the better !

    Consistently excellent

For peated dams, honestly, you can't get much better in my book. A special whisky for me. I love it.

    Never change

There is nothing I can add over and above what others have said about the nose and taste. This whisky is a gem of gems and has been consistently excellent for many years. I've had many Ardbeg expressions, but, this is still my favorite overall.

    ARDBEG 10yo - 46% - UCF - Natural Color

Super vegetal. Steamed spinach. Lightly impregnated, expensive hand-made leather shoes and jackets. New car smell/taste. Lemon pound cake. A hint of medium-dark chocolate way in the background (say, about 55% cocoa). Quite prominent vanilla. Icing sugar. I do get a whiff of cappuccino here, at least in an empty glass post-dramming, but it's very slight. Faint saline smoke. Some malt-smoke. Distinct aroma of East Caribbean rums, especially out of the bottle. Perfume-like. Aromatic. Minimal oak. Mellow. Complex. Very refined. Very luxurious. This is a vegetal, *peaty* malt, not a smokey one. Sapid but soft. Friendly. Reviewed with 1 teaspoon of water.
