It's an exceedingly quaffable blended concoction matured for an impressive 18 years, bottled up in classic no-fuss fashion so that the deliciously, fruity, creamy spirit can do all the talking. One to share with your gang of Saints & Sinners & Rebels & Rogues... and a proper shake-your-head-in-disbelief bargain too!
Apples, browned butter, rich oak, and crumbly vanilla fudge are joined by thick toffee, clotted cream, wafers, orange peels, and hints of dried summer fruits and straw.
Sumptuous layers of creamy toffee and butterscotch are joined by sweet, zesty marmalade. Syrupy, fruit-laden flapjack follows, with trickles of vanilla honey leading to gentle hints of cinnamon sticks and peppery oak.
That creaminess lingers, with notes of toffee ripple ice cream, backed by woody spice, buttered malt loaf, and vibrant oak.
Exactly what I expected for the £60 (!!!) Nothing earth shattering but great age statement, quaffable session whiskey with just enough going on to keep it interesting. Would buy again.!
Just so well balanced, with all of the richness and none of the burn. 2nd bottle ordered.
