Looking for Burns Night Whisky? Well here is Haggis Whisky... or to give it its full name: Haggis & Neeps & Tatties & Burns & Heart & Liver & Lungs & Suet & Oats & Stomach & This.
So, less a tasting or production note (like other &Whisky releases), and more of a list of essentials for Burns Night. You’ll notice that this whisky is at the end of that list. Make a note in your copybook.
A flavoursome whisky packed with vibrant layers of citrus, soft stone fruits, herbs, and spices, it's a grand companion for a hearty meal! Distilled in 2009 at a Lowland distillery that still uses a traditional worm tub condenser (a piece of kit now rarely seen, but essential in Burns’ day and revered by whisky geeks), it was filled into a single hogshead to mature for a full 15 years.
Fair fa’ your honest, sonsie face,
Great Chieftain o’ the Puddin-race!
Juicy, fleshy apricots open the way joined by fresh peach, then red grapefruit, dusted with demerara. Notes of malt loaf, miso paste, and fresh fennel bring balance and depth to all the juicy, sweet fruit.
Sweet, oily citrus, with lemons and grapefruit, a floral touch of lemon balm, and boiled green apple sweeties. Caramelised biscuits follow, along with vineyard peaches, creamy grist, and soft caramel before delicate yet vibrant spices arrive, with hints of turmeric and a smidge of caraway in the distance.
An invigorating finish – vibrant citrus, fresh peaches, and apricots carry all the way through, keeping things delightfully bright and fruity, while woody, aromatic spices and herby cured salami nestle in perfect balance beneath.
Perfect accompaniment to all foods warm, reekin', and rich.
Pleasantly surprised. Not a lot on the nose. An abundance of flavours seap through on the palate. I would love to have tried this at Cask strength !! Hense 4 star's. Ended up buying 4 bottles drank 1 Gave 1 away halfway through another saving the last for prosperity. Well done MOM. Bargain
I very pleasant dram and at a good price I was also surprised due to my late order that it was delivered before I had my haggis well done m of m
A bit bland too smooth for us
Well, without getting verbose, I was really surprised by this. Bought it to take as a bit of a novelty joke because of the name but it was so nice and well rounded everyone liked it a lot and the bottle went as fast as you can recite the Address to a Haggis
This is good whisky and the price is insane - too good just to drink on burns night. Get two bottles because this is definitely going up.
