Knockdhu renamed their whiskies anCnoc to avoid confusion with the nearby Knockando distillery. This 12 year old exhibits a gentle, non-sherried style of whisky.
Aromatic, quite robust. Honeysuckle, fresh flowers, cereals, barley.
Medium, good sweetness. Madeira, winter spices, mocha, Crème de Cacao, herbal hints and toasted granary bread.
Medium length, great interplay between oak and barley.
Love the smell very much very Aromatic fruity Christmas pudding tastes with a lovely gesture of mild currents and a bold touch of sweetness with the earthy flavors of the land mixed in love it feel quite at home sitting under a lovely tree with nature at the fingertips
anCnoc, what a lovely piece of work, when I phoned up as having issues with my basket,I was told in no uncertain terms that it was over 40 pounds a bottle and the price displayed was wrong and would be corrected, yet here it is still at 31 pounds,
Mainly because the price here in Australia started to creep up to Bunna 12, Clynelish 14, Tobermory 12 etc. On the nose and palate is like chamomile tea with tablespoon of honey in it. Very sweet and smooth. If it remained at the price I got it originally, 4.5 stars easily. But now I can say Bladnoch 11 would easily blow this out of the water for few extra bucks in all segments - i.e complexity, ABV, presentation etc.
If you haven't tried this whisky, then you should give it a go. Simply one of the best 12 year olds out there and at under £30 it's a no-brainer. It's fruity and smooth and goes down a treat. I would love to see this at 46% - but, then, we can't have everything, can we?
I have just bought this 12yr old for the first time and I am blown away by the incredible amount of smell and flavour packed into this whisky. There is butterscotch, vanilla, and orchard fruit on the nose and the same on the palate with toffee, lemon and a long finish with a touch of smoke. If I had tasted this blind I would guess it would have been 43-44% abv instead of 40 and just £30 !! . Can’t wait to try the 18 now.
