Distilled from barley grown at the North West of India. Amrut mature their single malt in New American Oak and ex-bourbon before bottling.
Intense barley and grain, nutty, citrus, apricot.
Barley, honey develops with allspice, apricot, rum.
Apples, apricot, greengages, malt, fruit.
Very interesting, multifaceted.
Nose: Almost smells like plain white grape juice, barely getting any alcohol off of it and it is close enough that it is nearly going up my nostrils. Palate: Slight burn from the alcohol (it is 46% ABV) but it is barely noticable, it gets almost immediately drowned out with a honey and barely flavor. Definite barley and honey, a little bit of spice with an almost apple cider finish that quickly disappates and I'm left with just pure honey coating the inside of my mouth.
Apart from the Scottish single malts I was already a fan of Japanese malts, so an Indian malt was interesting when I got it for a Christmas present. And it is delicious, superb, not threatening or weird, aromatic and yummy.
Good indian single malt
Amrut is Indian manufacturer... they just chopping your money just for single malt label .... scotch whiskeys are costly because of 150% taxes taken by government
Love it!, spicy, woody and hints of masala chai tea, like India in a bottle. long, lingering spicy finish My favorite dram
