This is basically a less outspoken, tame more muted and accesible version of their Cask Strenght release of this, it is a fair bit lighter in aroma and flavor but the trademark Amrut house style is still there. Malty, biscuity, sugarcane, caramelized nuttiness, apricot, citrus, ripe banana, roasted oak spices. This is a well rounded and solid entry dram with a nice malty new oak core. No fancy cask finishes to hide behind, malt and oak is what you get here but it is high quality malt and oak which rivals that of good scotch. Good maturation the Indian barley and new oak barrels work harmoniously together, a solid display of the Amrut house style. Complex, rounded and full bodied beyond its years due to the hot climate with continuous maturation which pulls every drop of flavor out of the oak and makes the malty Amrut spirit special. Bottled at 46% NCF and non-colored its a soft but full flavored exotic dram. The spirit is better imparted and integrated into the barrel flavors here then many watered down older scotch whiskies. In fact it outperforms many similarly priced 10 and 12 year older scotch whiskies in quality and pleasure.

Average whisky with pungent/bitter after taste without ice or water. Definitely not worth of a price tag of more than $50. Even with ice, it's not a match of some of the more inexpensive brands out there. I was excited to try it, but unfortunately this will be my first and last buy of Amrut.
Solid single malt Whisky from India that comes alive on ice for the right price . Not a big fan of using ice in my drams but this one is like Japanese style whiskey that is in essence to be served on the rocks. At 50 funbucks from Saddam's super note press you can't go wrong. Any cheaper and I'm sure the quality would surely suffer. Also great to pour for the kin without breaking the bank and show you actually give a crap about their company. Nose apricots, marmalade, candied peach. Taste-dates, maple oatmeal, dried apricot, spiced apple Finish-Green apple jolly rancher, peach preserve, prune, and tiny tiny wee ghost of peat..
Very smooth. No harsh after taste. Nice little bang for your buck.
