Amrut Single Malt Cask Strength Whisky, bottled at an impressive 61.8% ABV, exemplifies the remarkable qualities of Indian whisky. Thanks to Bangalore's warm climate this whisky matures quickly, developing bold tropical fruit, spice, and caramelised notes. A must-try for those exploring the innovation and potential of Indian whisky.
Biscuity and fruity with fig rolls, herbal notes, Werther's Originals, and a hint of peppermint.
More of that delightful balance of biscuit and fruit along with citrus, malt, toffee, and a subtle tarry edge.
Sweet and satisfying with apricot, blackcurrant tea, and a touch of spice.
Full-bodied and expertly crafted, this is Indian whisky at its finest.
There are some pleasant flavours in this whisky, there's some peach initially and red apple, it's sweet and there's a hint of Turkish delight in the finish. However, it's possibly the thinest feeling whisky I've ever tasted, and on the nose to me it smells a bit like strong Jack Daniels. There's a lack of complexity and the spirit smells young. Non of those things are really a problem on their own, especially as age doesn't really matter given how amazing some young whisky is. But at £68 at the time I bought it, it needs to be massively better than this. I'm still actively annoyed at this as I drink it because there are so many incredible whiskies out there in this price range and tons for much much less money. Please don't buy it.
This whisky is certainly loaded with flavor on the front end but it is a unique flavor that I am not especially fond of.
Those who think Whisky is only good if it's from Scotland will have a biased view of new Whisky. Me I go by taste and how it makes me feel. Amrut scores high on both fronts. Wonderful aroma warm down the throat and a fantastic sense of calm in the after taste. Found this is Edinburgh and was hooked. still love my Scotch but this is on par if not above most from the "home" of whisky
I have not tasted it but I want to drink and share with my friends
I usually drink Islays, the occasional Highland and one Canadian when I can get it. I bought this expecting that it would not taste like any of those and indeed it doesn't. It is simply the smoothest, warmest, most beautifully complex whisky I've ever tasted. My daughter and son-in-law were bowled over by it. My son-in-law tried his regular Islay afterwards and nearly spat it out.
