    Amrut Fusion

Fusion is a particularly apt name for this fantastic single malt whisky from Amrut. Y'see, it's made with barley grown in India, where the Amrut Distillery can be found, as well as peated barley from Scotland! Makes sense, right? Not just a clever name, it's also a cracking whisky, offering up generous helpings of fresh fruit, honey, spice and a good whiff of smoke.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Rich, barley, fruity. Big on citrus, spices, creamy sweetness. A hint of peat.

    Palate

Oaky, rich, gentle peat, coffee, dark chocolate. Fruity.

    Finish

    Long, spiced, marmalade, sweetness.

Just finished my first bottle ...

... and I must say that it was very pleasent indeed. It has a very strong flavour which is not to overyone's liking. If you don't like blow-your-socks-off Scotch single malts, then I don't think that you will be a big fan; from the tasting panel of my friends, the majority didn't like it - but I did! My preference in style is first and foremost, a decent XO Cognac (I know that's not whisky), followed peated scotch single malts - Irish, American, Canadian, and the lighter more floral Scotch single malts I don't really like. So this whisky fitted in with my preference in style. I just need to wait for it to come back into stock to order another bottle!

    Finally!

Finally managed to sample this much-talked-about whisky. Very interesting fusion indeed. You'll feel more than a hint of peat really if your bar otherwise has Indian single malts. But great finish! Very difficult to find a bottle though.

    Really nice!

This one is great. I must say i like Amrut overall, but this one is probably the best of them all!

    Bottle code: Batch 02 - Nov '09

Nose: Dark sugar, spicy vanillas with a juicy bitterness in the background. Taste: Sweet ginger syrup on entry, burnt orange peel follows with warm spices. Finish is long and deep. The complexity here is engrossing and strange - a wonderful dram and definitely a must for any enthusiast. Mr. K
