This is the 9th batch of Casg Annamh from Speyside's Aberlour distillery. The name means "rare cask" in Gaelic and this flavourful expression spent its time maturing in a combo of American oak and sherry casks, offering up rich layers of aromatic spice, fruit cake, and dark chocolate.
Milky coffee, flame raisins and plenty of honeyed malt.
Golden Grahams, nectarines, cinnamon and strawberry jam.
Cooking spices, sugary biscuits and red apples.
This is a gorgeous scotch! Slowly bringing the glass to your nose and a whiff of syrup comes through until a second later, raisins and dried fruit hits you. The taste is treacle and spice and coats your mouth in a creamy warmth that slowly gives way to an almond and nut finish. You couldn’t get much more cozy drinking this nectar even if your drank it wearing a towelling robe and slippers by the open fire......which I am:) Just lovely stuff!
Wow what a dram. This is awesome and wicked on the palate
This is lovely, Not tried the other batches. On the nose its first fresh orange peel, honey then american pancakes covered in dense maple syrup with a side of papaya and peach. Taste: that sweet sourness of the orange and papaya hits the tastebuds first, followed by a spicy, cinnamon like density, nicely balanced and woody on the end, oily coating the whole mouth. Long finish bittersweet spices and orange peel. This is my first Aberlour, certainly not the last. A very well valued whisky.
This is absolutely wonderful stuff. Incredible salted caramel notes, for me. A superb dram, without a doubt.
Wonderful salted caramel beauty. An easier going version of the A'Bunadh. I really need to get a few more before they move on to the next batch. Toffee in a glass.
