It's Aberlour's ever-popular A'Bunadh single malt Scotch whisky! Each batch of this single malt is matured entirely in Spanish oloroso sherry butts, bestowing huge helpings of dried fruit and festive spice notes to the whisky, after which it's bottled up at full-on cask strength with no chill-filtration.
Zesty notes of chocolate-coated orange wheels join sticky ginger loaf and sherried fruits.
Plump sultanas, prunes, cakey spice, and marmalade, with biscuity malt and toffee apple in tow.
Sweet spices and rich oak linger.

If you see that batch you just buy it baby! What I got on the Nose was Cigar Box Tobacco Notes, Christmas Like Spices, and Mocha Chocolate. What I got on the palate was Walnuts Chocolate Wave 1, Wave 2, Wave 3, With Tobacco, and Slight Spices. Finish was Clove and sherry mocha long lasting. 94/100 all day.
Very good whisky pleasant and smooth with a splash of water due to being cask strength I certainly enjoy it anyway as with most Aberlour whisky easy four stars I reckon.
Amazingly smooth for a whisky that has a 59% proof. best had with 2:1 A'Bunadh; water ( room temperature, mind you) will open the best of the taste and the aromas. Excellent! is the only word to describe it.
-compared with some of the previous 10 batches this definitely spicier....and, to my palate Far Too Young......I have no issue with NAS malts and everyone's taste is different-but have to wonder if they are playing at seeing how far they can push it.....or possibly have finally run out of the decent stuff? I have a range of bottles from the last dozen or so batches-and will Not be buying this again (It's about as dire as #50which had thought an aberration)....and am even considering (given the downward trend of the last 3 batches) whether to even bother with 59.....though probably will as they MIGHT just re-issue a batch for drinking as decent dram and not just to put the 'punch' in French cocktails......
Writing this review after trying the 56, 57 and 58 because I feel I was doing the world a dis-service by not stating how good this batch was/is. Don't get me wrong the subsequent batches have been good but have lacked the fruity, sherried flavour that explodes in your mouth like this does. This is life affirming stuff. If you can find it don't hesitate
