It's Aberlour's ever-popular A'Bunadh single malt Scotch whisky! Each batch of this single malt is matured entirely in Spanish oloroso sherry butts, bestowing huge helpings of dried fruit and festive spice notes to the whisky, after which it's bottled up at full-on cask strength with no chill-filtration.
Zesty notes of chocolate-coated orange wheels join sticky ginger loaf and sherried fruits.
Plump sultanas, prunes, cakey spice, and marmalade, with biscuity malt and toffee apple in tow.
Sweet spices and rich oak linger.

I've got to say that after tasting the darkness which was also matured in Oloroso sherry casks I was pleasantly surprised by this. Quite smooth and reasonably priced. A great Father's Day present. Cheers son x.
Amazing how much flavour with this high proofing. The last time I had a surprise like that, was with a 58% Ileach Cask Strength. New hints come to mind with where sip. Nuts, chocolate even liquorice and fruit. Tastebuds are losing their minds.
I have loved the earlier A'bunadhs, two earlier batches were wonderful. Batch 58 is extremely disappointing, local drinking friends agree, a medicinal background note that doesn't go away, it's off-putting.
just on my last few drams
I'm amazed that Aberlour continues to chart completely new ground with A'Bunadh. This lacks the heavy Sherry that has defined A'Bunadh in the past. Instead, it marries a surprising smoothness with an intense spiciness - Christmas spices like cinnamon and all-spice - in a much lighter expression. This whisky is so non-A'Bunadh, and yet so excellent that I can't wait to hear what Jim Murray thinks of it. I can't think of any distillery that forges new ground like Aberlour. Congratulations, and keep up the good work!
