It's Aberlour's ever-popular A'Bunadh single malt Scotch whisky! Each batch of this single malt is matured entirely in Spanish oloroso sherry butts, bestowing huge helpings of dried fruit and festive spice notes to the whisky, after which it's bottled up at full-on cask strength with no chill-filtration.
Zesty notes of chocolate-coated orange wheels join sticky ginger loaf and sherried fruits.
Plump sultanas, prunes, cakey spice, and marmalade, with biscuity malt and toffee apple in tow.
Sweet spices and rich oak linger.

I disagree with the below comment. I think it's better than batch 44, but not as good as batch 47. Better than batch 50 no doubt. its sweet, it's rich, its chocolate coated raisins dipped in brandy. it's great!
While an improvement in the fairly disastrous batch #50- especially if you leave it 10 mins with a fairly large splash of (soft) water, this confirms my earlier concerns that they are either ''running out of the good stuff'' or using higher proportions of younger spirit-and inferior woods- to try and maintain volume sales. There's a good bit of flavour but nothing like the subtleties of the batches through the 40s which seems much diminished....... maybe they are just trying to keep the selling point below £40......in either case I am a bit disappointed in what seems to be becoming a trend......downward.
Just bought and tried for the first time. Although alcoholic content is so high you really don't feel like it's got almost 60%. I tried with water and without-both ways are fine. After some time in a glass there's caramel aroma which i did not notice at the beginning. And the after-taste with strong cask influence is lingering for a long time- and i enjoyed it )
I'm fond of speyside whisky and sherried whisky, so this one is win win for me. Really intense sherry, I add a fair bit of water due to the strength and it opens up nicely. Normally I stick to age statement whiskies, however, I made the exception here and I'll always have a bottle of a'bunadh on my whisky shelf. Great value for money!
This is a wonderful scotch. I took a chance on this one, not having tried it before hand and I must say that I don't regret it one bit. Very smooth with a taste of citrus, raisins and cinnamon on the palate, with a moderately long after taste. The alcohol isn't as prominent in the taste as one might expect for such a high ABV and it isn't overbearing. It's a tad sweeter than other scotches I've tasted recently, but it works wonders for this particular blend. All in all, I think I will be returning to the Aberlour A'bunadh series for years to come.
