It's Aberlour's ever-popular A'Bunadh single malt Scotch whisky! Each batch of this single malt is matured entirely in Spanish oloroso sherry butts, bestowing huge helpings of dried fruit and festive spice notes to the whisky, after which it's bottled up at full-on cask strength with no chill-filtration.
Zesty notes of chocolate-coated orange wheels join sticky ginger loaf and sherried fruits.
Plump sultanas, prunes, cakey spice, and marmalade, with biscuity malt and toffee apple in tow.
Sweet spices and rich oak linger.

These 50's of A'Bunadh are not par. Good lord, I sound like an old man but I cherish the old 30's batches especially batch 35 and I'm only 37yo! Aberlour in general is just not what it used to be. I remember my go to was Aberlour 10 @43%, and when my mates and I went "all in" we would splurge for the A'Bunadh. Now it's a shadow of it's former self. I miss you old school Aberlour.
so good....
I like it very much ........
Still early days, but one had a sneaking suspicion they're hoping to wear us down with 'familiarity breeds indifference.....For me they have yet to repeat the glories of the 40s.....While an improvement on the batch #50 disaster. I don't notice much improvement on #51...Still too much young spirit and indifferent woods, though would suggest that the 50% dilution ( to around 30%ABV) necessary to really enjoy this may be a distinct hint that these are now being designed for the French Market ....whereas Scots often prefer 43-46% -or even neat! Trouble is it has lost that palatability it had in earlier, previous versions at higher concentrations....Shame ......
