It's Aberlour's ever-popular A'Bunadh single malt Scotch whisky! Each batch of this single malt is matured entirely in Spanish oloroso sherry butts, bestowing huge helpings of dried fruit and festive spice notes to the whisky, after which it's bottled up at full-on cask strength with no chill-filtration.
Zesty notes of chocolate-coated orange wheels join sticky ginger loaf and sherried fruits.
Plump sultanas, prunes, cakey spice, and marmalade, with biscuity malt and toffee apple in tow.
Sweet spices and rich oak linger.

I cannot compare it to other batches but having tried 47, I am on the hunt for other sherry cask whiskies that will please as well as this one. I am still looking. This love in a bottle is just too expensive to drink as much as it is making me want to. Why yes, I did just buy another bottle of 47. Now, how to hide it from myself...
I had my introduction to to the A'Bunadh recently on Batch 51 but I much prefer this. I've since bought a bottle of the Batch 48, but still feel that the 52 is the best of the ones I have tried so far. Fantastic flavour
Amazing. I want more....right now. Please.
Having finished a fantastic batch 45, 47 and an iffy batch 50, I have to say that this batch is a full return to the glory days of the batch 40s. I did manage to taste a batch 51, which was an improvement over batch 50, but this is full return to form I had been hoping for. I think I will stock up whilst I have the chance! I would recommend watering it down to around 40% ABV, give it 5-10 minutes in the glass and sit back and enjoy - the whisky will do all the talking. Oh and take the previous 'review' with a pinch of salt, the same 'review' has been posted on other whisky sites and for other batches too.
There's plenty of talk about the past batches being better or perfect and these newer batches falling short. But what we seem to forget is that our pallets change, get familiar and have glossy memories. Those who experienced earlier batches inevitably have good memories of them because it was "new" and "never been done like this before". Now they've become familiar and bored, looking for that feeling you get when something new hits your mouth and blows your mind. Batch 51 is still very good, and for someone new to the Abunadh, its amazing. It is STILL "Christmas is a glass".
