It's Aberlour's ever-popular A'Bunadh single malt Scotch whisky! Each batch of this single malt is matured entirely in Spanish oloroso sherry butts, bestowing huge helpings of dried fruit and festive spice notes to the whisky, after which it's bottled up at full-on cask strength with no chill-filtration.
Zesty notes of chocolate-coated orange wheels join sticky ginger loaf and sherried fruits.
Plump sultanas, prunes, cakey spice, and marmalade, with biscuity malt and toffee apple in tow.
Sweet spices and rich oak linger.

Sweet, the spirit of Christmas, cinnamon and spices. A dram to enjoy with an old friend or someone who is about to become one. A powerful nectar that separates boys from men and make the strongest of men emotional. Not only because of the high alcohol content but because this is a fine, masculine drink indeed.
Pricing is on the upper mid tier, but this is the one that's worth the money if you ask me. This one is slightly less acidic than previous batches, so a bit less zest to the fruit. However, it's compensated for this with having the leathery taste be a lot broader. I definitely like this expression a lot more. If you're looking for an earthy, but not smoked, a fruity ,but not sweet Whisky, with a warm tone with small hints of vanilla, this is definitely a solid choice. Tasting this for the first time was like walking into an old time grocers store, with that man with the glasses behind the counter that could sell you anything from medicine to cabbage heads. That warm feeling is something that I'll always appreciate with this dram.
Bought batch 64 for myself...It's a wonderful, complex dram, truly superb and worth anyones money. Bought batch 65 for a friends birthday and tried it, arguably even better. The fruitiness in batch 65 is just another level and eclipses my batch 64 I'm sorry to say. It's good stuff and a no brainer for anyone who likes sherried whiskies. Also takes water really well in case the ABV scares you.
I am having batch 65 right now, my third dram in the row, so excuse me If I am a bit over enthusiastic, It is my second bottle of the batch 65 (One bottle will be left for the endgame), go figure, and this one is about 40% left. Color wise not as dark as previous ones, but still very dark. OF course with aberlour you get no fake colors (sugar). In my current rotation of 14 opened bottles it seats on 1st place, followed very closely (almost a tie, it depends on a day) with 61.8% peated Livet nadurra 2017, batch pw0717, and there is miles of nothing....And I have woodford, JDSB, four roses SB, few cognacs... Yup. It is a stacker. Easy 90+ in my book.
Disappointing! I just finished a batch number 56 and was looking forward to some more. Opened up batch 62 and was assaulted with peat smoke forward in the flavor profile. There are so many other whiskys that I can drink for smoke. Should have read up before buying :(
