Aberlour is known for producing some of the finest sherry-cask-matured whiskies in Scotland, and this expression is no exception.
Over 18 years of careful aging created this single malt, first in American oak bourbon barrels then Spanish oak oloroso and Pedro Ximinéz sherry butts. The spirit developed a luxurious depth, where notes of raisins, figs, and cinnamon blend seamlessly with a long, honeyed finish. The rich mouthfeel and well-balanced spice make it a dream dram for those who love their whisky bold yet smooth.
Creamy, like melted vanilla ice-cream. Fruity and honeyed.
Fresh juicy apples and oranges before sherry kicks in with supple sultanas and vanilla.
Intricate with chocolate raisins and oily caramel notes.

This one is more sherried than 16 yo, but the palate is a bit sharp to me. 16 yo is considerably smoother.
Nose: At first anonymous. Then, after a while, fresh fruits, nectar, vanilla, oak-spice, and sweet malt reveals itself. It’s mellow, sneaky. Taste: Vanilla and fruity honey-filled butterscotch. The finish is spicy and sweet, maybe a bit too much of wood from the oak-spice. But all in all, a lovely dram!
A great scotch, on the first taste an explosion of flavors attack your tastebuds with a creamy like fruity taste and also has a great smell. Amazing for the price, I will enjoy this regularly, I enjoy drinking this scotch neat.
The 16 y Aberlour Double Matured being one of my all time favourites I had to try this expression when seeing it in the shop. And it didn't dissapoint!! Nose : Soft fruits like bananas ( think creme de banasas smell ), peaches and apricots Palate : peaches and apricots again imbedded in some creamy vanilla. Some spiciness in the end.Finish : some spiciness lingers for a while which is nice.Overall I am beginning to like it more and more and I think this would go nicely with dessert
