Matured in two types of casks, the traditional oak and sherry oak casks and bottled at a slightly lower abv of 40% than previous editions, this 16 year old Aberlour is bursting with lush plum, raisin and even floral notes. A cracking Speyside malt.
Very good but the abv let’s it down. If it was say 46% it would be up there with best. Personally, I’d save myself £20 and go for the Casg Annamh.
Okey....Double the price versus the 12y DC Aberlour. I say, fuck it. If you are on the budget, grab the 12. It is top, for the price. Sipper all the way, mouth wash. You are winning. But if you have some extra cash....Sure, not double the better, but If you are loaded with cash, you can not go wrong. To me it is better than Macallan 12 DC. Period. This is good, man. Very good. I am giving it 5/5, to bring up the score. I dont get this 3,5/5 score, when I am writing this. You probably do not have money, and you are not on your purpose, in life. Drink Jim Beam then, white one, that is. Maybe it is on discount.
Very, very, very good. At the price I'd plump for the A'bunadh but I am a sucker for heavy sherry. I will enjoy the 16 a lot though and when it's gone I imagine there'll soon be another on the shelf. I do think it's a tad overpriced but that is Arberlour these days....
By far the best single malt for the money.
Blissful!
