A classic Highland dram, Aberfeldy 12 Year Old single malt whisky is a creamy, sweet and gently smoky example of what the region produces. Bolstered by plenty of Aberfeldy's signature honeyed fruit character, this makes for a superbly laid-back sipper. The label comes with a rather handsome black and rose-gold colour palate to match the rich, malty, honeyed flavour profile.
Aberfeldy Golden Hot Toddy recipe:
- 50ml of Aberfeldy 12 Year Old
- 1/2 shot of local honey
- 1/2 shot of lemon juice
Combine the above ingredients in a mug and top up with hot water. Garnish with lemon, a cinnamon stick, and some star anise to spread the cheer of this cosy classic.
Creamy. Some sherried fruit with a trailing hint of smoke. Honeyed prunes, custard, and espresso beans.
Sweet, malty, with gentle peat and a mellow, silky texture. Vanilla fudge, peaches and cream, and subtle toasted oak follow.
Ginger, malt, nutty nougat, and maybe a little grapefruit zest.

I have a private collection of over 40 different Whiskeys, being from Ireland! I am partial to a Macallan, with the ruby among my favourites. The scotch I normally reach for would be the Macallan or Glenmorangie 18. I've never tried Aberfeldy until I was presented two bottles as a gift and I must say its a fantastic, easy drinking whisky. It is extremely smooth, sweet and with a hint of smoke on the finish, for me personally a little more depth and this dram could invade the most exclusive shelf of any whiskey drinkers collection. overall a great addition to any collection at a very very reasonably price!
I'm usually pretty hell bent on extremely smokey Islays, and this was given to me as a gift along with a bottle of bowmore 12. To my surprise, I've been reaching for the Aberfeldy more than the Bowmore, or anything else in my collection! Great little change in my habits, love the fruitiness of it, very easy to drink. Great little scotch!
I've been a scotch whiskey drinker for over 40 years, and have tasted many blends and single malts, up to and including a very rare 60 year old Johnny Walker that was priced at $25 per ounce - and that was back in the 80's..... anyway, having just tried the Aberfeldy 12 for the first time, I find it incredibly smooth, fairly sweet and malty, and having a clean finish with a hint of smokiness. Of the 17 different whiskeys currently gracing my bar, I am planning to keep the Aberfeldy for my private stock, and pour the Talisker Storm into the sink. I used to think that the Glenlivet 18 would always be my top choice for single malts, but now that is no longer true. I can afford the pricier brands, but much prefer the luscious drinkability of this very unassuming small batch whiskey. The Aberfeldy is absolutely "Top Shelf" in my opinion.
I saw it for the first time in my local specialty liquor shop. It is lightly sweet and spicy. Surprisingly good. I'll be buying it again.
When the lable, and package changed so did the contents. Used to be so very good, but now not so much. It seems more harsh, with a bitter finish. I'm dissapointed.
