    8O8 Whisky (808)

Music producer TommyD and his team, along with help from Jonathan Driver, set out a create a whisky that could be enjoyed neat and as part of simple club serves and cocktails - the result is 8O8 Whisky, a grain whisky produced at the North British distillery. The name is inspired by the TR-808 drum machine. If you've ever listened to electronic music, you've almost certainly heard a TR-808 before.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Light honey, chocolate and vanilla notes - can be mixed with Red Bull, though the coconut water serve sounds more promising to us, however.

    Fabulous

This is a great 'go to' grain whisky that I buy regularly for mixing but it also tastes fabulous on its own, very smooth and goes down well with guests and also makes a great present for music friends.

    Pathetic reviews below

This is a great example of a grain whisky. Sure, it's not the most complex sipper out there but it's more than good enough to be enjoyed neat and it's a great choice for someone who is new to whisky - think vanilla ice cream in a glass. It's creamy, smooth and moreish. I get the distinct impression that some of the reviewers below don't have the slightest clue of what a grain whisky is supposed to be. Either that or they are the kind of massive snobs that will have every bartender attempting to avoid them when they pop in for a dram.

Don't bother even if you are a house music fan

Nothing interesting about this blend. Thin, limited flavour palette, there are plenty of other far superior blends in the same price range. Even as a mixer I would chose something else.

    Ignore the snobbery below

All these "experts" below whining about the chill-filtering make me laugh. Chill filtering is a stylistic choice... It's not a sign of a poor whisky. There are some absolutely stunning whiskies around that are chill-filtered and some absolutely AWFUL ones that are not. As for this whisky... It's a good example of a single grain. What are people expecting exactly?? It's precisely what I imagined it would taste like... Easy-drinking, smooth and a great introduction for the whisky newcomer. Perfectly enjoyable for someone more experienced too. So many people in this comments section who need to cut out the snobbery. I can't imagine many of them have actually tried it... Very very decent. Ignore the snobs.

    A must try

One of the nicest whiskies I’ve tried. Was apprehensive, but glad I took the plunge on trying this, not disappointed. Smooth tasting, great on its own and with a mixer.
