A Scottish vodka, distilled from sugar beet. It was originally named Grants vodka, before William Grant & Sons appealed to the Scottish Courts for the name to be changed.
This vodka is pretty strong and has a nice taste. It is mixed well with other drinks and is quite cheap. I highly recommend it.
This vodka has a great flavour and it is quite strong. You can mix it with orange juice or coke and it gives you a good feeling for some hours. I have tried more expensive brands but they rarely gave me the high I needed. I think this is the perfect price and it keeps you going for some time, so well worth the money.
I tried the vodka and it is nice. I spend money yes I spend money on good brand but i know not why i spend as much for this is just as good, and it is cheap. I like it with some lemonade and you don't have to drink much to have a relaxing evening because the alcohol content is reasonably high. Even a 5cl bottle will give you a good buzz for around an hour and a half. Cheap and good value for money.
This vodka tastes lovely. If someone were served this and they were not told it was Glen's they would rate it far higher. The association between cost and quality is dubious at the best of times, but in this case I have found people enjoyed this vodka much more than any other I have served. It has a a bit of flavour, unlike the pure chemical taste of other brands, and the UK newspaper Telegraph did a blind taste test, and they thought this was the best of the lot as well. These is snobbery when it comes to cheaper drinks, but in many cases the premium brands are the ones that disappoint. This brand is cheap, but Vodka is drunk for its effect for the most part, and not for its taste, so spending much more is lunacy and this actually has a bot of flavours as opposed to the Grey Goose, Smirnoff, or even Absolut. I don't think any of those have that lemon or citrus aftertaste, and this vodka can be drunk straight for its taste. People are being harsh when they say this is rubbish. I have found this beverage to be as potent as any of the other ones I have tasted. This also mixes great with other drinks and doesn't bring on terrible hangovers (as long as you drink plenty of water in between and don't go overboard with your drinking. One of the best drinks there is, and cheap too, which means for someone looking for a decent vodka at a good price, scraping the bottom of the barrel may be a good thing for once.
Just got a flyer through the door from the local Asian corner shop. Glen's Vodka 70cl £9.99. Sounds like a great deal eh!. So.............. let's break it down. Duty on spirits currently = £28.22 a litre of 100% spirit Glen's Vodka is 37.5% spirit - so..... duty on this should be 37.5% of £28.22, which equals £10.58 per litre. Bottle is 70cl so - duty is 70% of £10.58 - which equals £7.41. VAT is currently 20% and is charged on the retail price of the bottle - so the ex-vat price is a bottle retailing at £9.99 is £8.32 - which means the VAT portion is £1.67. So..... duty on this bottle is £7.41. VAT is £1.67, so total taxes = £9.08 This leaves the princely sum of £0.91p to cover the cost of the VODKA - the bottle, the label, any packaging, delivery costs, and profit to the retailer. Am I being cynical - but is it just me that smells something a wee bit fishy here?.
