Holy smokes! This Tapatio tequila is incredible! The Tapatio Excelencia Gran Reserva Extra Añejo is matured for around four years. A combination of casks are used, depending on the batch, including French oak and American oak. Stunning stuff all round!
Hot caramel apples, intense agave and hidden floral flourish.
An explosion of earthy notes, brown sugar, traditional tequila spiciness and hint of chocolate, wrapped in a mellow blanket incurred by the oak maturation.
Extremely long and rich.
The perfect example of why tequila should be sipped and not shot. These flavours need to be enjoyed!
£5.88 - £66.51
This aged Anejo from **Tapatio** is freakin' awesome, a sippers dream, I'm not normally into tequila but this Anejo is unbelievable, lots of caramelized buttery fruit including apples, pears & figgy paste, sweet and savory spices, cedary/tobacco notes, cinnamon + a long minty finish and so much more, to top it off it's presented in a litre bottle, word has it aging takes 4-5 years in barrels with a extra 10? years rested in large glass flagons, this stuff is a rare treat indeed, check it out!!!
This is a classic tequila and highly revered among tequila aficionados for good reason, its spectacular! This offering is no longer available in the litre bottle and as such is rare and well sought after. Any tequila enthusiast should grab with both hands.
Personally not a big fan - tasted super harsh and definitely needed a half & half ratio to water to open up properly. Not what I expected from Tapatio.
..or in other words, a loooong way from a Tapatio Blanco!! I have every Tapatio tequila on the shelf and they really are superb. Tapatio Blanco 110 is frankly stunning- and there is the problem (First World problem type). A liter equivalent of 110 is £68. XA's have to be expensive because of the aging. I do get that. But...if you have paid £68 for a tequila that blew you away (as did the anejo at the same liter price!) your expectations are going to be SKY HIGH at £170 surely? Especially because this is often rated as one of the finest sipping liquors of ALL TIME- and thats not specifically for tequilas, its for ALL spirits!! So what do we have?...could it live up to its billing? Its lovely, of course it is! Felipe Camarena originally saved this for his house guests for goodness sake! A rolling complexity, a super balanced sweetness, lots of caramel and a mellow cask finish. My only criticism is that you are going to have to hunt for the agave. But I guess tequila drinkers who really want agave don't linger in the XA's. Seriously, this is great- treat yourself, (but buy the Tapatio range first!)
Really Good. Have to say this only my third tequila, but its great. I have a new favourite that I can now drink.
