El Sueño Tequila Gold is the result of five generations' Tequila producing know-how. Such traditional knowledge of Tequila production has been coupled with a more modern focus on sustainability, affordability and of course, quality. Optimally rested in oak barrels in Jalisco, Mexico, the resulting Tequila is wonderfully rich and fruity.
Subtle floral notes, tropical flavours of pineapple, light caramel and a pinch of pepper.
Both smells and tastes thin, was ok in a mixed drink but by itself was rather absent
So smooth. Has a wonderful after taste of caramel and a touch of pepper.
I decided to by a bottle to make the grapefruit ‘lagerita’ I saw on Sunday Brunch. Absolutely amazing cocktail and even enjoy the tequila by itself, never thought I’d say that. Will be buying more!
I bought this before I saw the negative reviews appear and became a little worried once I read them. I knew it was a mixto as I'd read the hype but I have had outstanding mixtos in the US before so thought I'd give it a go. I needn't have worried, this is an excellent tequila for the money. You can pay the extra few £ for a diffuser made 100% agave and you will be disappointed. This stuff is made right (just google the production) and I for one support them.
Probably the best Mixto Tequila going. But it's a Mixto...So it's not pulling up any trees taste wise - hence the low rating. You're getting something really quite thin in terms of mouth feel, and it lacks the earthy agave flavour due it not being 100% agave. You can spend £5 - £6 more and buy a very reasonable 100% agave "true" Tequila like e.g. Olmeca Altos.
