Blanco tequila from Destilladora San Nicolas in Los Altos, made with 100% blue agave and bottled without ageing. The name "Espolòn" comes from the spur of the rooster's foot, an important bird in Mexican culture. In fact, a rooster also makes an appearance on the unique label, which is also inspired by Dia de los Muertos - Day of the Dead. Yes, it is a skeleton riding a rooster. Yes, we agree that this is awesome.
Light and floral, with agave and notes of cracked black pepper.
Agave up front, with citrus zest, lime, vanilla and peppery warmth on the mid-palate.
Classically spicy.
Well rounded and enjoyable.
$31.55 - $55.94
Good
this is my favourite tequila for mixing. Stands out against other blanco's in this price range, smooth, big agave and nice pepper-y-ness.
I love this as a mixing Tequila. It's light, with a slight citrus twist and a very good finish. If you're buying this to drink it on the rocks or neat then you're going to be disappointed when you stack it up against the big boys, but lets be honest that's not the type of Tequila it's meant to be and it doesn't even pretend to be that. For the price you can't beat it if this is the profile you're looking for.
For some reason I think this tastes slightly of Welsh’s grape juice- a funny sort of sweetness and not my cup of tea. My husband likes it though
Price = acceptable Taste = cheeky Affect = clean
