TALES OF THE MACALLAN | Volume 1

A whisky that honours one of the distillery’s pioneers

Discover Tales of the Macallan

Tales of The Macallan is a new series from the legendary distillery in Speyside honouring the trailblazing luminaries from The Macallan's history. The first release in the series pays tribute to Captain John Grant, Laird of Easter Elchies, whose work helped to pave the way for The Macallan.

The Grant Family had owned the land that is now home to The Macallan since 1543. John Grant was born in 1659, and after returning from the war, he worked to cultivate perfect conditions for growing barley on the land – and as we know, barley is a vital ingredient for whisky making.

Tales of The Macallan Volume I is an astonishing single malt Scotch whisky distilled back in 1950 and allowed plenty of time to mature, eventually being bottled in 2021. It was crafted by The Macallan lead whisky maker Sarah Burgess as a celebration of the legacy of Captain John Grant.

Furthermore, the whisky has been presented in a handcrafted crystal decanter from Lalique, and concealed within an almanac book telling the story of Captain John Grant, with illustrations by English artist Andrew Davidson.
