From Liverpool-based William Fox, this delightful syrup uses the base of all gins as it flavour, so it's sure to be popular. Now let's see - what on earth could this flavour compliment... How about cocktails, mocktails, smoothies, soda and tonic waters, juices of orange, lemon, pink grapefruit and even Darjeeling tea. Probably a good one to have in the cupboard, then.
Please note: Once opened, use your tasty William Fox syrup within a month.
Slightly bitter, warm and savoury, with a tangy citrus-y backdrop.
Having tried several of the more expensive non-alcoholic gin substitutes, we've concluded that this is not only by far the best value, but also one of the best tasting. Some of the botanical non-gins are nice enough, but if what you want to do is hold a glass of tonic, ice and something strongly reminiscent of gin, then this would be my strong recommendation.
Fantastic alternative to gin for a non-alcoholic G&T, with good juniper flavour. It's superior to other alternatives like the Monin syrup (which tastes to us much sweeter, and not very junipery), or Belvoir's 'Juniper & Tonic' drink (again, weak juniper flavour). We found that only a little of the syrup is needed (it's quite sweet, obviously!) to get the gin flavour. Top up with ice and a good tonic water. We also experimented with g&t garnishes - a spring of lemon balm, lemon verbena, or lemon thyme were our favourites, or green cardamom, a dried juniper berry, & slice of lime. As only a little is needed, a bottle goes a long way. In blind taste tests with family and friends, it was even chosen over (much more expensive) speciality non-alcoholic gins from distilleries.
Splash of this into a premium tonic water and you're laughing, who needs gin ?
Amazing for a non alcoholic g&t! 15ml of this syrup, 10ml lime juice top with ice and tonic and stir! So simple yet incredibly tasty! Perfect for dry January!!
