I saw this on offer so i thought i'd take a chance on it. Being curious to taste my new purchase i poured a little neat into a glass. I didn't like it and thought it was soapy and waste of money. However, silly me, having poured a full measure into a glass over ice and added a Mediterranean fever tree tonic to it I completely changed my mind and I found it be very passable. Definitely tastes like gin with a lingering taste of juniper, just without the kick. I have tried other alcohol free gins in the paste but this is the closest to the real thing I've tasted. Well done Tanqueray!
Stunningly like the original but be careful with the garnish. It's pretty citrus already
I agree with previous views- this tastes nothing like the real thing and I also thought it tasted of soap. I would much rather have a nice tonic on its own with Ice and a slice of lemon or lime.
I cannot understand how anybody can say that this is remotely like gin. I have tried it neat, with dry vermouth and sweet vermouth, with Angostura and with tonic. in every tasting my only thought was "revolting". I gave a tot to seven friends and asked them what they thought it was; not one person thought it was gin. Somebody suggested mixing it with gin, but that rather defeats the object, doesn't it? I have now poured what was left (4/5ths of the bottle) down the sink. By giving their name to such appalling swill, Tanqueray have demeaned themselves.
It tastes like gin but with the alcohol removed. No harsh spicey kick but a sweeter more juniper flavour. Definitely notes of lemon citrus and also a slight taste of mint and liquorice. It's best for me drunk neat with ice. But owing to no alcohol, you tend to drink a lot more. Drinking a third or half a bottle is easy that way. They really need to reduce the cost, as it costs the same as an 40% alcohol bottle. I would give it 4/5 for taste but reduced to 3/5 because of the cost.
