Here we have Lyre's non-alcoholic Italian Orange Spirit, and there's no prizes for guessing which, well, orange Italian spirit this is made in the style of. It's made with natural extracts from ruby grapefruit, blood orange and pomegranate, for a fruity and slightly bittersweet hit.
A satisfying balance of sweet and juicy fruit, tangy citrus and a bitter lingering finish.
Superb non-alcoholic (sadly!) alternative to Campari-good with soda- and with a non-alcoholic gin makes a very enjoyable negroni-type drink; it has real body and length . also great on its own with ice. Tough to put down.
I've based my review on the fact that this has no alcohol; it would be a bit mean to compare it to the alcoholic versions. I've been ill recently and needed something without alcohol that would still make me feel I was having something special to drink. I love this stuff. When I first tasted it I checked the bottle to make sure it was alcohol-free :-). I've had it straight, with ice, and with tonic water; all lovely. The bitter orange flavour gives it a real kick, and it's not too sugary. Now I'm off to buy another bottle for Christmas. Cheers!
I've rated this based on the fact that it's non-alcoholic, so it's unfair to judge it against the real thing. I've been ill recently and needed to avoid alcohol, so I thought I'd give this a try. I've had it straight, on ice, and with tonic water, and I love it. You really do think there's alcohol in it. I put mine with a little ice in a cocktail glass and it felt special. I didn't feel I was missing out on anything. With tonic water, it's a gorgeous longer drink. So I'm just about to order another bottle for Christmas. Cheers!
