From the Lyre's folks over in Australia comes a non-alcoholic spirit that would make a great alternative to use in cocktails such as an Old Fashioned or Boulevardier. The brand is named after the Australian Lyrebird, which is renowned for being able to mimic the calls of other birds. Oh, and what's with the bear? The North American black bear was used as the logo for this particular expression as it's made in the style of bourbon. But there's no alcohol here, just to be clear.
Smooth caramel and a hint of oak with a slightly spicy finish.
This is as good as it gets. On its own it looks like and smells like scotch. However lacks in taste. So far I have added 30mls of Rochdale ginger and bam, I have scotch or as good as it gets. I am sure I can even improve on this. But forced to give up alcohol for health reasons, I now have some pleasure back. Not the buzz alcohol gives, but this is great stuff.

I love this non alcoholic take on bourbon, even though I'm not keen on the real thing! It's richly aromatic, with a full on caramel finish. Very satisfying and perfect for staying sober but sociable.
Very impressed with Lyre’s American Malt. It tastes just like whiskey and even leaves you with the spicy sensation that real whiskey does. I’ve read a few mixed reviews on this product on other sites and I think people are forgetting that this isn’t made from whiskey nor is it made using the same process. It is a non-alcoholic spirit made with a combination of unique ingredients to provide you with the same taste and experience real whiskey does. It’s perfect for anybody who is trying to stop drinking alcohol.
