Lindores Abbey's Aqua Vitae is distilled in pot stills and then infused with a blend of spices and herbs, including cleavers, lemon verbena, douglas fir and sweet cicely, all of which are foraged from the grounds of the ancient Abbey. Good enough to enjoy simply over ice with a twist of orange. An intriguing spirit with a good bit of history behind it - the earliest Aqua Vitae produced at Lindores Abbey's historic site was all the way back in 1494! We're very excited to see what comes next from these folks...
Through a fragrant piney aroma comes fleshy white fruit, salted caramel, sweet aniseed, fresh herbs and a rich medley of baking spices. There’s plenty of stewed raisins, marmalade, floral honey and lemon sherbets in support.
Fruitcake, orange peel, nutty dark chocolate and brown sugar initially, with more aromatic lemon citrus notes underneath and a return of that ginger, clove and cinnamon mix.
A touch of pot still spice and woody tannins linger among the sweeter dried fruit notes.

“The tasting notes by the MoM chaps above hit the nail on the head. Wonderfully spiced and fruity, it's a delicious and complex product that's unique to most other products on the market and leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy. Pairs surprisingly well with chocolate and coffee as well as tropical flavours like passionfruit and pineapple. First got a bottle last year and enjoyed every dram poured - recently obtained a new bottle so keen to crack it open! Mixes very easily with ginger beer, rhubarb soda or even cream soda. Switch it out for gin in a negroni, whisky in an old fashioned, rum in a mojito. Versatile and exciting stuff from the Kingdom.”

A nice herb nose with warmth in the mouth. Overtones of menthol. Tastes a bit like Drambui without the cloying sweetness; hints of armagnac. AFtertaste of bitter herbs like passion flower or wormwood.
Lovely , Spiceytaste with a kick of Ginger with a Heat on your Tongue of mild Chilly flavours, to warm the Cockles of your heart. Highly recommend.
Absolutely amazing. Very good dram. Ideal for summer cocktails. Thank you Lindores Abbey. I can't wait for first single malt.
Fantastic stuff, can't wait for their single malts to be available!
A real sip of history. That’s what they called “water of life”, whisky 500 years ago. Interesting stuff, herbal, spicy and quite versatile - neat or mixed. Unlike anything.
