Fancy a sneak peek at what Arran's sibling distillery Lagg is up to on the Isle of Arran? Though it may be a while before we see the distillery's whisky, it has bottled up some of its peated new make to give us an idea of the sorts of flavours the eventual single malt could feature!
Smoky and earthy, with hints of pear skin, barley, lime pith, smoked meat and a touch of vanilla.
Echoes of Islay on the nose, touch of the medicinalness in Laohraoig. Sweetness in the mouth, butter without the honey. Strong peat, toffee; pretty neutral after that. Would be a good one for barrel chip 'ageing' at home. All in all pretty damn good!
