Wood's Old Navy Rum

Wood's Old Navy Rum Bottling Note

Wood's is made from the finest sugar cane and distilled in Guyana, South America. Bottled at 57% abv, it is one of the highest percentage volume dark rums out there right now, at least at this price.

Its smooth enough to enjoy neat, but also a killer choice for cocktails.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Toffee, cinnamon, cloves and pepper spice on the nose with thick caramel notes.

Palate: Muscovado sugar, soft toffee and just a hint of the spice detected on the nose. This is very smooth, belying its hefty abv.

Finish: Surprisingly short but thick and syrupy toffee notes abound.

Overall: A rich, dark rum with a high abv that retains its smoothness. Would work well in a dark and stormy, despite the fact Wood's is distilled in Guyana, and not Bermuda.

Wood's Old Navy Rum Reviews

Outstanding

Nothing comes near to woods rum by far the best rum.

Straight, simple, uncomplicated, traditional, old-fashioned rum with a fabulous taste.

Probably the thing I like least about rum these days is it has to be flavoured, sweetened, messed about with, tarted up. Not for me - a bottle of Wood's any day. Straight, simple, uncomplicated, traditional, old-fashioned rum with a fabulous taste.

Stronnnnng.

To me if you can drink a whiskey or rum on its own or with a little water or ice it's good stuff this definitely applies to woods , but it's also a good mixer , I like it with blackcurrant, but everyone to their own .. economical too.

The best of all gunpowder proof rums.

For me, this is the best of all Rums. Superb toffee notes all the way through. Neat, or with a little ice, it packs a powerful punch of flavour.

It Tastes Like Rum!

It tastes like rum, but it's too harsh! It does taste a little bit better after being open for a week. But, I still prefer Pusser's 'Gunpowder Proof' Black Label.

Give this a go and excite your palate.

After years of drinking rum, but years since having Four Bells from Guyana, it’s good to taste a smooth, high Abz rum from the same country. Tried as a Dark and Stormy and no need for an alcoholic Ginger Beer, so smooth, should be a ‘Dark and Smoothie’?

Proper old fashioned rum

Proper old fashioned rum heavy and a bit harsh but still good for sipping

My Favourite!

We are spoilt for choice these days when it comes to rum. We have access to fine rums from all over the world. But when it comes to a British classic rum, this is it.
Neat, with ice, with coke or in cocktails, this rum is the business, it bites your arse!
