In the whisky world, the angels take their share of whisky from the casks maturing it. In the Caribbean, it's the mischievous Duppy spirits that travel from island to island, taking their share of rum from the casks. This legend is where the stylish Duppy Share Caribbean Rum takes its name. It's made from a blend of bourbon-barrel-matured 5 year old rum from Barbados and 3 year old rum from Jamaica. A bright, bold and altogether very handsome rum.
*UK and retail only. Offer from 12 12 2024, while stock lasts.
Green banana, cinnamon, slightly oily, caramel.
Sultana and raisin, followed by vanilla and a hint of brine.
Lasting brown sugar, ginger and fresh lime.
Tried different rums, not always going to pay this much. To be fair re: the few negative views it does say on the label about making cocktails with it. I quite like it on it's own, though I usually morph what other rums I have together after half a bottle is gone with some more spices of my choosing, depending on what rum I'm tampering with. Usually with some dark rum too.
Have been enjoying more rums over the last year but this was first venture off piste with a non supermarket brand. Very much enjoyed it, encouraged us to venture out more into the rum world. Was a little surprised that reviews were mixed because we couldn't fault it, but maybe it's too easy to drink if you're a little more of a hardcore rum sinker, but maybe that's why we liked it so much, because it is very easy to drink.
Really surprised by this, given the price. It's that rarest of things - a spirit I can drink neat. It's got far less burn than many much more expensive rums. It's fairly simple and a little dilute, but it's got a nice milk chocolate and banana character, and is very smooth. Sweet but not excessively so.
I have always loved a good rum but have to say this rum is Wonderful.... so smooth and not sweet. Wonderful poured over ice
Fruity taste with a woody hint to it, smooth but interestingly very flavour full.
