Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Woody notes, vanilla, dried fruits.

Nose

Bright and bold, robust notes of molasses and vegetal funk open the way for vanilla, toasted oak, prunes, and a touch of tar.

Palate

Waves of vanilla pod and banana chips support hints of bitter citrus, with layers of sweet caramel developing in time, backed by a touch of fragrant tobacco.

Finish

Leathery oak, drying spice, burnt brown sugar, apricot jam.

Not really rum

Apparently, this is a “funky” Jamaican rum that has been ‘finished’ in a Masala cask, in Sicily. I think ‘finished-off’ would be a better way to describe it. It has neither body nor complexity. To me, this doesn’t even taste like rum. It’s dire! It’s fairly alcohol forward, but even that tastes ‘industrial’. Far too ‘woody’, with a touch of fake vanilla. Thank goodness I only purchased the one bottle!
