Ron Mulata Añejo 7 Year Old

The distillers behind Ron Mulata only use Cuban sugar cane syrup to produce their fantastic rum. They also only use 180 litre white oak barrels to age it. This expression, for example, spent 7 long years in those barrels, developing a light, indulgent flavour profile. An excellent brand of Cuban rum.

    Smooth

I am not a connoisseur of alcohol of any sort. But I just recently had some of this and thought I'd give my opinion of it. Rum. One of those liquors you hear about in pirate movies or when a rum and coke is ordered. Until I went to Barbados in 1999 the only rum I knew of was Biccardi [sic]. That tiny island introduced me to good dark rum. It's also not available over here on a regular basis so when they had this on a special offer at the local market I got a bottle to try. It was delicious. It was like they mixed a combination of a good Irish whiskey and a good cognac together. It has the smooth delicious bite of a good whiskey combined with the sweet bite of a good cognac. And the sweetness is not overpowering. I drank one bottle (over time of course) at 5°C and one bottle at room temperature. Although the cooler temp went down more smoothly, both temps were good. I went today and bought their last bottle and I'm saving it for something special. It's a good rum. A very good rum. Don't mix it though. You'll waste it. That's what Captain Morgans and Biccardi are for. Sip it instead.
